Backstory idea is of a somewhat scoundrely but talented musician who stumbles onto an ancient text/song and is able to play it in a way that casts light on the ancient struggle between light/good & darkness/evil and makes imminently clear his purpose in the world. This might also be witnessed by Taylor's automaton character and unlock its sentient potential as well, though possibly for a different but somewhat aligned purpose. And perhaps once the song is performed in that way, it disappears or loses power completely, but inspires both of them to continue to search out more ancient texts/songs like it. When Remi plays and hears the music that casts the world in a different brilliant color and makes clear the endless struggle of light vs darkness, he is inspired to protect and shelter the light and goodness wherever possible. He chooses the path of a paladin, armed to combat the forces of evil wherever they may lurk and defend beauty and hope where they are under assault. But as he seeks to be and push this change in the world, he realizes not all battles can be won through blood and iron, and that it is his duty to hopefully eventually reveal to others the power of music and art in fighting evil where it lives, and classes in Bard. This balance is where he currently finds himself, between the "Shelter the Light" and "Be the Light" tenets of his Oath. Both strength and beauty must be utilized in certain situations
