Exotyl, commonly known as just Exo or "XO" is a strong drug with opioid-like effects. It usually comes in pill form, but can be injected in the form of a dark liquid.
Arguably the most common "downer drug", Exotyl is the third most commonly traded illegal substance in Fortune City according to the 2082 CSD Substances Report. Usage has heavily increased in the last decade with many overdose deaths reported, and concerns has been raised for a potential (or, according to some, currently ongoing) Exo epidemic.

Effects

When administered intravenously, the effects of Exotyl are almost instantly felt. The user will feel a sense of calmness, euphoric pleasure, and a floating body sensation coupled with the limbs appearing numb and heavy (making the user likely to not move a lot). Some have likened the feeling to being submerged under water - a feeling often increased by sounds appearing muffled and far away, a common auditory hallucination when on Exo. In pill form, effects are reported to be the same, but arriving after half an hour or more.
Exotyl is one of the most addictive drugs covered by Substance Prohibition Law, and the physical side effects are countless - addicts can experience everything from rapid hair loss and severe skin conditions to seizures, and after ingesting just 40 mg or over a severe overdose is almost inevitable. Exotyl was previously a Class 2 substance because of its medical use as an effective painkiller, a classification that has since been changed to reflect the increased usage of the highly dangerous drug.
