Central Massive
Visible from hundreds of miles away the gigantic, jagged peaks of the central massive pierce the heavens. Littered with plateaus and valleys the mountains provide, albeit a harsh one, refuge for a wide variety of creatures.
Exiled Goliath tribes, old Orc tribes and gigantic wildlife to name only a few of the inhabitants of those mountains. It is even rumored that fully grown dragons slumber deep within the mountain, guarding immeasurable treasures and knowledge of the old gods.
Geography
The Central Massive is circular mountain range in the midst of Formarion. It's origin is not direclty known, since it is unusual for mountains to appear in the middle of a continent.
The steep slopes quickly thin to high mountain peaks that, in some places, pierce the skies. The high mountains are connected by plateaus and series of smaller mountains. Between the mountains deep valleys are formed where the ice cold climate of the peaks cannot reach the inhabitants and a normal live is possible. The highest peaks vanish between the clouds and it is unknown what is happening up there.
On the mountain sides and in the valleys one could find large swathes of forests interspersed with rocky wastes.
Fauna & Flora
In the heights of the mountain a lot of the more rare mountain flowers can be found and if the adventurer is brave enough harvested.
On top of that there are a lot of forests in the lower reaches of the mountains and the valleys.
In terms of fauna a lot of mountain animals cam be found here like, mountain goats, bears, lynxes and deers. In addition it is rumored that rarer and powerful animals can be found in the harder to reach areas of the mountains.
The high amounts of dangerous animals have the effect that many areas of the mountains are virtually untouched by civilized influence and a lot of the wild tribes and species found refuge here.
Natural Resources
The mountains are rich in natural resources.
The dwarves were quick to exploit the metallic resources buried in the sides and beneath the mountains. Among these minerals rare ores were found by the tirelessly digging dwarves. Among those are adamantite and gold. To supplement the building of their mines and cities they established many quarries in the sides of the mountain aswell as sawmills near the forests.
In addition to many natural minerals a lot of rare flowers can be found on the sides of the mountain peaks.
