Session 27: The Hawkwinter Wolves

Where we left off, you all continued deeper into the ancient ruin of Milamnhr. You risked a long rest, fearing that more enemies awaited you further ahead, and your risk paid off. You investigated the next chamber, finding the body of a third medusa who had been gored by some sort of creature. You also found another journal entry, and its contents did not bode well for you: it appears to confirm that one of the Councilors of the Order has had the Green Dragon Mask in their possession for quite some time.

You then headed to the lower level of the ruin, where you caught up to Eliza LaCrowe, one of Niles' most trusted lieutenants, and her men. You caught them by surprise as they were investigating the ruin. Eliza incorrectly blamed Eldwin for the deaths of his comrades, calling him a traitor, and after an impassioned response, she seemed conflicted, but did not stop the onslaught. Instead, she revealed her identity as a werewolf, instantly adding a new dangerous layer to the fight.

It took time, but you killed her three comrades, who were also lycanthropes, and had Eliza cornered. She relented, saying she knows when she has lost, and asked that you elaborate on the truth of Niles and the Daggers before killing her. It was a tense moment, where you were unsure if you would all choose to talk or fight, but you agreed to stop fighting if she shifted back to her human form, which she did.

You now stand before the bloodied, defeated lieutenant of Niles Hawkwinter, and you intend on trying to get whatever information you can from her. Otherwise, there are two other important things you must contend with: first, exploring the rest of the ruin, as you haven't yet found any sign of the supposed relic it contains. Secondly, two of you now feel a strange burning sensation through your veins, like fire, after being bitten by the werewolves. You've realized that you have contracted lycanthropy, and while that could mean you have a new power at your disposal, it comes at the cost of a terrible curse.
