Forces for Evil and... Good?

Great and magical serpents may take many forms but in Folkvangr and the Nine Realms there three main serpents known: Jormungandr, Nidhogg and The Bark Serpent.
Serpents are usually the product of some God's reproduction. They do not always have a purpose, although the Bark Serpent was created by Odin, Vili and Ve, the three original and most powerful Aesir, to keep the mortals from climbing Yggdrasil to the higher reaches of Asgard  and Valhalla.

Appearance

Serpents can take many forms but usually serpentine or draconic forms are the most common. They are usually so large they have to have their own section of a realm to travel within. Each serpent has unique visual themes, such as the gold theme with the Bark Serpent.
