Mark

A Mark is a special magical imprint. It can bestow powers on an individual but comes at the cost of changing their destiny. About a sixth of all humans who die and come to Asgard have received one.

Animal Marks

All available animal spirits have an assembly to judge each human's fate upon their death to see if they deserve to be chosen to receive a Mark and by whom. If an individual is deemed to have lived a life worthy of, or similar to, or otherwise pleasing to a particular animal, then they may be chosen an imprinted with a magical "tattoo" in the shape of said animal.

Plant Marks

Similar to animal Marks, plant Marks are decided by an assembly of plant spirits after a human's death. They deem if their lives were representative a plant, and if so the human will be given a "tattoo" in the shape of said plant.   The characteristics for receiving a plant Mark are notably different than those of animal Marks.

Power of the Mark

Initially, receiving a Mark will enhance someone's attributes immediately. They may become physically, spiritually or mentally stronger. In addition they gain the ability to commune with said Mark-givers, and are usually granted a generous magical power which embodies the ideals or actions of the Mark-givers.   Later on, depending on their actions after being Marked, Mark-receivers may have the choice of furthering their representative Mark powers. They may be given powers to change partially into the shape of the Mark-givers, or gain their powers in an enhanced sense.

Tip

Its generally a good idea to not be hostile towards any Mark-givers after receiving one. You may have it taken from you.
