The Discovery of Dwarves & Elves

With an era of expansion and conquest underneath the new Kingdom, contact is made with the Elves of the south and Dwarves of the east.

Ǫlfun Asketill sought to continue gaining more power through the land surrounding him. He swiftly moved his armies to the east and conquered any towns that didn't already fly under the sovereign flag. Upon reaching the Bemrihm Foothills his armies discovered strange creatures that stood half the height of an ordinary man.   These creatures, later introduced as dwarves, did not want any part in the land that Flottland found habitable. Instead they asked to be left alone to the mountains. The Flottlandish were already skeptical of the mountains, so they left them alone.   The southern elves didn't see things the same way however. A great marsh-land separated the elvish land from the Flottlandish, one that made it difficult to transport equipment and goods over. The elvish initially refused to allow any Flottland to enter the land at all, using force if it was necessary. This later changed when an agreement was made to allow independent trades-people to cross the borders without any military escorts.
