The Flood
The Flood is the event that began AFE or After Flood Era.
In the year 2087 AD sea levels have risen to such a degree, that the remaining dry land above water is just 10%. Due to climate change and the ignorance of humanity, the seas rose and rose, with all major countries failing to adress the issue. This already terrible situation was made even worse, with the discovery of a meteor nicknamed dragon, headed straight for earth.
Rising Sea Levels
The ice caps had fully melted by the year 2070, already raising the sea level by a substantial amount. This however worsened with a shower of comets, in 2073, with an average of 40 comets a day for 6 years straight. While most comets evaporated in the atmosphere dealing no damage to earth itself, these comets introduced an excess of water into the atmosphere. All this water rained down on the earth, increasing the sea levels year by year until just 10% of the earth's dry land remained. many island countries were lost to the sea, and come previously inland cities found themselves becoming the new costal hotspots.
Meteor Dragon
In the year 2064, a meteor 20km wide was identified by a research team in China known as the Dragon Space Research Team, which was garunteed to crash into earth in the year 2087 between Febuary and June. This news spread throughout the world, and some major countries decided to prepare. Countries familiar with space and with built up space programs poured all their resources into sending people to mars and creating mars colonies, while other countries who simply did not have the resources for that turned to bowl cities and floating mega cruises for their survival. Of course there were others who denied this threat and claimed that it would miss earth, only to be proven wrong on April 17th 2087.
April 17th 2087. Dragon has been visible to the naked eye for weeks, but at 9:34PM EST, for just 3 seconds the sky was lit aflame as Meteor Dragon came crashing down. Dragon Collided just 50km to the south of the eastern great pacific garbage patch, creating massive tsunamis travelling across the pacific ocean. the waters crashed onto shore all across the world, with the horrible weather pummelling every city in the world. 6billion people died that day.
And so began, year 0 AFE.
