Uvs Nuur

The town of Merc boards

Demographics

Largely there are four professions here; farmers, innkeepers, merchants, and police.

Government

The government here is very strict on crime; despite the rowdyness that the merc boards tend to attract, people often feel safe in the town boundaries... at least, outside of the inns' peak hours. Crimes in this city are mostly prosecuted without trial, however the small permanent populous tend to keep the police honest, if a bit harsh.

Defences

Little exists, as the town is protected from raids by the constant string of adventurers.

Industry & Trade

There are farmers, though they mostly provide for the town. Much of the economy of the town is run by the sales from travellers as they pass through the town, and adventurers who stay in town to look for work.

Infrastructure

Most of the buildings are small and wide; 2 stories at most. The main town is paved with cobblestone roads, while the vast outskirts are merely dirt roads. The sewers are kobold-built and somewhat large for the size of the town.

Assets

There are many inns, a few blacksmiths, and many temporary shops; buildings that have a different shopkeeper every few months as the owners rent it out to caravans wishing to sell or acquire goods. There are also many stores that sell the crops of the locals to travellers, or prepare the meals.

Guilds and Factions

There are small collisions of local trades, such as the inns and the farmers, but few factions touch the town directly. However, the fingers of all the guilds in the country are felt, as they post jobs on the boards of this town.

History

Originally just a small farming town that had a rest stop presence for travelers, a prophecy has been hanging over the town for a few hundred years: a great hero will be born there. That sparked interest and combined with its central position in the kingdom, Nuurians quickly capitalized on this, and soon travelers were coming in hoping to find help from this legendary hero; this evolved into the modern Uvs Nuur.

Architecture

The buildings are mostly wooden; with the rowdiness of mercs, closing for repairs and renovations is very frequent compared to other places, and so being able to do so quickly is of utmost concern. It is also tradition to have an emblem of Savras the god of divination and fate (a crystal ball containing many eyes) in front of any business that has a bulletin board, with richer ones even using a painted sphere.

Geography

The town is one of the flattest in the country; there's a reason it started as nothing more than a few farms.

Natural Resources

Remove all the buildings, crops and people and it's flat land as far as the eye can see. Fertile soil and the crops that grow from it is all that is offered
