Thanalas

Birthplace of Aesvomet, Thalanas, is the land of the Fabul. Tusaria, Palteans, Centuars, Gnomes, and Pixies; there is no domant race. Seated next to Eysa Thalore, Fabul found a home with accepting neighbors, as far away from the Zrald Theocracy as possible. Thalanas has some of the most diverse culture in the realm. Though most subscribe to Eshllenora, there are many subcultures and religions each race and region one grows up in. Pixies, for example, are Eshllix. They often live in hallowed out trees, eat only foraged food, and live a life of complete magic; often that of trickery, worshiping Paha, Lady of Trickery. The Gnomes, of some regions, are known for rejecting magic for fear it depletes that of the natural world. And Centuars, depending on region, speak three unique languages. Thalanas is the definition of a melding pot, rivaling even Nove.   Thanalas is the most under populated and rural state in Nezzuu. Ever it's capital, Edfair, has a population of 3,843. Instead, it is made of many small villages and burgs. Often not even mapped and hidden through illusion. Many of it's people are transient, not even staking claim to one particular land; often to prevent too much impact to the ecosystem. Many other states, particularly United Provinces of Skalyth, have thought the land wasted on the Fabul and have sought to take it by force. Though Thalanas little to no formal military force, it's people have come together and risen above any challanger. With such a varied pool of abilities and strengths that are foriegn to most, it is hard to predict and preapre for a battle with Thalanas. None have ever beaten it to date, and the United Provinces of Skalyth have even lost territory attempting. And any threat too great for Thalanas to tackle on it's own must also deal with Eysa Thalore, who has vowed to protect it. In turn, Thalanas has plpedged to teach the people of it's protector the magic that keeps them both safe.

Geography

A wild an untamed land, Thalanas is marked by sprawling forests and woodlands, small plains, and long coastlines. An underdeveloped and wild landscape is found almost everywhere one roams. Small town, villages, and burgs dot the countryside, some even invlisable to the undeserning eye. Thalanas is a very low and flat, with only small rolling hills here are there. It also features a great deal of rivers, streams, and brooks as it is home to some of the most natural springs in Nezzuu. This is great for the ecosystem which has florished with plenty of water and sun.

Ecosystem Cycles

Much like the rest of Nezzuu, Thanalas revolves around the seasons. Spring and fall are a time of stockpiling, summer and fall a time of surviving. The vegitation wilts, dies, or hibernates during the harsher months, coming back to life when tempratures level.

Localized Phenomena

Though there is no pinpointed loocation, it is fabled that Thanalas is the birthplace of magic. It's land, flora and fauna, and even people, all ooze magical energy. The Fabul have learned to tap into this natural magic and it permiates almost all aspects of life. It is as commonplace as agriculture to the rest of the world.   It does also brag as the only place in Nezzuu to soak in a natural hotsprings without freezing as well.

Climate

Much like the grand majority of Nezzuu, the summers and winter are too brutal for any crops or plants to grow. Since Thanalas does not recieve much precipitation, the wilting of vegitation can begin even earlier, often starting as early as late Inet. Breda, on the other hand, can start late and is much less harsh without the constant bilzzards the plauge most of the world. In all, Thanalas averages a total of 309 growing days; just over half a year and only less than the standard 320 days.   With such a low and flat landscape, Thanalas wind is something to experience. Most days are comfortably breezy, but also known for their windstorms that can knock even the largest Centuar over. For this reason, both Pixies and Gnomes have taken to living in woodlands or thick forests that help dimish these storms. About every quarter century Thanalas has tornados that can destroy whole forests or villages. Due to the high water table, it is difficult to prepare for this kind of disaster as unground shelters are few and far between. Thankfully, Eshllenora promotes stone and brick structures that help protect it's citizens.

Fauna & Flora

Much like it's protector, Eysa Thalore, Thanalas has a rich and varied flora and fauna presence. With largely untouched areas with little interference, it boasts the tile of most diverse ecosystem in the realm. It is hypothisized that there are still more discovries to be made than people that live within it's boarders.

Natural Resources

Thanalas has a huge potential to be the biggest exporter of crops in Nezzuu due to it's extremely fertile land. Though most of it's citizens have taken to foraging over cultivation. It could also utilize it's unique and rare animals as exotic meat and pets, however no attempt to do so has been made. Instead, Thanalas lives a life of sustainability over commercalism. It has just enough, perhaps even more, than it's people need.

History

It wasn't long after the founding of Eysa Thalore that Thanalas started to take form. In 119 AC, Fabul that traveled with the Elves to the northwestern region of Nezzuu decided to forge their own paths and find a home of their own. A great exodus of Fabul started to travel south after word from friends and family quickly spread of the lush and bountiful lands just over the boarder. It took a great deal of time before Thanalas was actually called a state in-of-itself. In fact, it was the rest of Nezzuu that called it a state rather than it's own people. In 147 AC became an offical state when Eysa Thalore pledged to protect it from the invading Tyreese, now known as the United Provinces of Skalyth. It was not only during this war that it was recognized as a state from it's neighboor, but by it's own people as well. All races, Fabul and others, banded together and stood up for their independant way of life.   Since then the United Provinces of Skalyth have attacked twice more. Once in 462 AC and yet again in 523 AC, where the defeat was so severe, Thanalas' boarders grew as United Provinces of Skalyth lost theirs. Thanalas was also once attacked by sea by the Zrald Theocracy in 954 AC. Thankfully, the Zrald Theocracy was low on supplies and units by the time they reached the coastline. A short war ensued, but still managed to cripple Thanalas for years to come. With the Metal Famine shortly following in 1,001 AC, Thanalas struggled to hold it's footing.   It was upon the independant discovery of Aesvomet that it started to regain it's once strong standing. Thanalas tried to keep Aesvomet a secret from the rest of Nezzu, with the execption of Eysa Thalore, but to no avial. A magic so great could simply not be hidden. It is rumored that the inventor, still unknown to this day, mentored Emmil Magric in the art until he had mastered it and then became a hermit for fear of what they may see it could do, the harm it could cause.

Tourism

Though Thanalas has the most beautiful natual landscapes, it is often not even considered as a destination; except to those that revere and worship nature. This is largely in part due to the secretive and private lifestyle of it's citizens. Thanalasites do welcome it's few travelers it sees with open arms, much to the contrary of their outward impression in Nezzuu.
