Songbird Roza

Songbird Roza Nimera Maelen

Roza is not the kind of fellow you would expect to find deep in Visperus' prison. He's a jovial man, light-hearted and wise-cracking. His fingers are light on the string of banjo, and they have never touched the steel of a weapon. Despite his rough, outlandish appearance, Roza is a kindred soul. The only reason he spends his days in Visperus' hold with blood on his lip is because he is a bit too kindred. He spoke against the rebel group's brutality through boisterous loud song and wrathful poetry, turning the meek country folk to fight against the raids and ravaging. The Four Princes of Visperus did not take kindly to the push back and put a bounty against Roza's head. He was swiftly captured and tortured for his words.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

For a bard, Roza is fit. As a son of one of the richer merchant families of his town, he once had a bit of paunch to his form, but his time in the depths of Visperus' dungeon has ridden him of it. A month of torture at Visperus' hands has given him many injuries—none life threatening, but enough to make him uncomfortable and weak.

Body Features

He has strong, sturdy hands that are deft despite their size. His shoulders are wide-set and well-muscled; at least they were in his good health. Like most Beori men, his hair is thick and dark.

Facial Features

Roza has a cheeky smile regardless of the situation. It pulls together the wild and impish look he carries, between his curling hair and mischievous crows feet that crinkle his eyes.

Apparel & Accessories

He wears rough-spun cloth of wool and linen in traditional merchant garb. He also wears a vest of speckled jackal-deer skin that acts as his call sign whenever he is performing.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Roza, the only son in a large family, was raised in a bustling merchant town in the heart of Pageneid. The town had dealings with Visperus in the past, but they were typically quiet, almost civil. Over time, however, as Roza grew up, Visperus grew hostile towards the town, and the group began to raid the town. As the brutality increased, Roza found he could not sit by idly. He began to write and perform songs and ballads of protest, speaking against Visperus. His vocalization raised the townsfolk's morale, and they began to push back against the Visperus conquest. The Visperus leaders didn't like the push back, and a bounty was placed on Hawthorn's head for his protesting. Some months later, Hawthorn disappeared from the town, sequestered away to some dark Visperus dungeon.

Sexuality

Roza is most adamantly gay, much to the disappointment of the women in the taverns he frequents.

Education

Roza was the dutiful student of the town's old mandolin player. From a young age, his mentor taught him how to play skillfully. In addition, Hawthorn learned to weave his speak poetically and delicately from odd jobs in the local tavern.

Employment

Before his imprisonment, Roza hopped from tavern to inn nightly, performing at each for meager coin. He also had a side jig as a scribe of copying and disseminating the literature travelling merchants brought to the city.

Intellectual Characteristics

Roza is surprisingly well-read. He always keeps calm in tense situations, and his rather laid-back personality grants him a permanent air of confidence.

Morality & Philosophy

He believes in freedom and will more than anything. His morality is on the good side, but it's more focused on the major things than petty things like theft. He's not afraid to get his hands dirty breaking the law so long as it's for the greater good of what he believes in.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

He wants to get free of Visperus' grasp, and perhaps eventually, dismantle the organization.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

He possesses a silver tongue and fingers made to tickle the strings of a mandolin. However, his tongue is known to get him into spots of trouble, as it did with Visperus.

Social

Speech

His voice is curiously lilting, and years of writing and performing ballads has given his speech a flowing and eloquent quality.
