Fall of the Gods

The fall of the gods, Hopheht, Estrosh, and Beofrera, meant many things. The fall was not so much a fall on the Angels' accounts; rather, it was a fall of disgrace from the hearts and minds of the people. Two thousand years with no words from their creators did much to instill unrest and betrayal in the common folks' hearts. The Medusan still insisting that the gods were good and still cared did little to help.   The building to the fall was gentle and took time; the final straw that broke the camel's back was the declaration from the Moot of Lords. The kings of the land gathered in Pianti in the late summer heat, and there, they renounced the gods. Most were eager to turn their back on the divine, while others took convincing and a few left without renouncing. Another decision was put in place on that day: the conjoining of lands. A High King was named, and Pianti was placed at the center of the new sovereign lands.   The moot marked the ending of an era, and the beginning of a new one: one without the guidance of the gods, where Medusan blood was scorned, and the sacredness of the angels was tarnished.
