Thalmology (Thahl-mohl-oh-gee)

Thalmology is the study of the science of magic. Thalmologists believe that magic suffuses the Material Plane in specific patterns and with a complex series of parameters which manifests there like threads in a grand, four-dimensional tapestry. Thalmological research and advancement has focused on the methods by which those threads can be manipulated with sound and motion to affect the reality which those threads create when stitched together.
To a thalmologist, speech and verse and song and gesture are all imperfect means of exerting control over the threads of reality. In other words, any form of communication are magical in the sense that they too have the power to reshape reality, to exert influence and control over others, and to harm or heal.
