Rishra Spider

Large (sizes range from 4' to 5') black-and-red spiders native to the Rishra Wilds. These creatures spin intricate webs in the canopies of the highest Carpetneedle trees. Their preferred food is humanoids, which is part of what has led to the reputation of the Rishra Wilds as being a particularly dangerous, haunted, or cursed place.   They feed by capturing humanoids or other large mammals (deer, wolves, moose) and webbing them close to the trunks of their home tree. Adult Rishra Spiders mostly feed on blood and fluids from their prey, while young Rishra Spiders consume meat. Typically prey will be kept trapped for 10-20 hours before draining, then will offer the remains to their young, roughly once per day.
