Bugbear
Originally "bougebhethar" (bew-zhee-beh-arr) in their native tongue, the term was misunderstood by early elven cultures who bastardized the term into "bugbear," a pronunciation which stuck when the bougebhethar integrated elvyyn into their language. Some suggest the name was a veiled insult to their large and somewhat furry disposition combined with their bulbous, "bug" eyes, though it has been pointed out that early elvyyn used different homophones and syntax for such descriptions.
