Orcs

Orcs are an Otherborne species which has been in this world for centuries, largely found in settlements across the Aûn Ranges. They are known for their powerful constitution and larger size, as well as for their brusque and often violent nature. Orcs share a tense and bloody history with this world, so are treated with anything from suspicion to outright hatred depending on region, culture or species.    They are often seen as simplistic and of lesser intelligence, but that is far from the truth, because the Orcs are capable of complex thought and deep and meaningful communication among their own, or with other species.

Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

Orcs are created from spawning pits. They are practically adult-sized and -brained, and their "newness" in the world comes in the form of a disorientation. It takes them a few weeks to fully overcome the hazy period which follows a spawning, and if it's their first they have a lot of information to absorb. Notably, not all Orcs fully learn how to speak during this period, and many never do, but they're all capable of perfect communication through gestures and body language.

Biological Cycle

Orcs strive to attain the status of a Greenskin, and even though there's a lot of glory to be found in both war and death, fighting in a more controlled environment ensures that they can become stronger quicker and without the danger of their respawning to be prevented (for example most of their enemies burn or mutilate fallen Orcs after a battle). This need to become stronger can take many forms. There is light sparring, pit-fights, brawls, and even open battle. Many a long war trace their origin to a band of Orcs that was too keen to strengthen themselves.
