Magic Fields and World Scars

During the rise of the Evening Star, intense particulate bombardment will ravage the Wastes, causing rampant destruction and death for anyone or anything unfortunate enough to be caught outside the safety of a Civil Perimeter. Said particulate due to the frequency, force, and density conglomerate into semi-stable solidified manifestations of magic, known as Fields. These fields are commonly mono-fields, meaning that they host only a single school of magic, all others being repulsed and segregated, extending on average for about a mile across, though have been known to occupy several miles of space. These areas are hostile and unsavory, with anomalous weather effects and monsters desecrating the nearby landscape. Occasionally, two more more schools of magic will occupy the same field, thereby creating di-fields, tri-fields, and so forth, each prefix indicating the number of magic schools present in a particular field. Historically, only tri-fields have been observed in the Wastes, all others theorized to be impossible or extreme unlikely. Each field is protected by an under-layer Stratum that shields the magic from being harvested and must be nullified before any progress can be made. The more magic schools in a field, the stronger the stratum that defends it, requiring the use of powerful Stratum Casters to identify their weaknesses and "wedge" disruptions within to neutralize them. Should Evening once again commence while there are still fields present somewhere in the Meridian, they will catalyze from the barrage of particulate, dispersing all of their stored energy in a violent explosive reaction that expands the field dramatically, or creates a World Scar should the reaction be substantial. The larger the field and more magic schools present, the more volatile the reaction come Evening, thereby increasing the chance of the creation of a World Scar. The size of a World Scar depends on the potency of a field, with neglected tri-fields of considerable radius creating the largest scars that bound for miles upon miles, forging an Exclusion Zone where no life may exist ever again. These World Scars bear properties that focus and amplify the assault of the Evening Star, inciting the foundation of many more and larger fields of magic within their Outer Exclusion Zones; everything within the Inner Exclusion Zone, the border of no return, nothing survives, not even magic, the dense particulate radiation within never settling. There is no known method of repairing a World Scar, with eight of notable size being recorded through the Meridian's history, slightly shuffling positions every Evening. With the destruction of Topaz Anchor, the existence of an octo-field with all eight schools of magic was discovered, the potential damage of its catalysis implying an excess of nothing short of total annihilation of the entire Equatorial Rise. Previously, not only was the presence of such a field thought to be but a theory and nothing more, it also proved that the horrifically unstable Evocation school could indeed coalesce into a semi-stable field, previously believed to be impossible like all else. Additionally, the school of Divination having always persisted within incredibly difficult to detect tears in reality have been noted to appear within this octo-field, also previously believed to be impossible.
