Eldritch Gods

In spite the many conflicting tales or horror stories on the nature and ambitions of the eldritch god, the Gods themselves do not care for the affairs of mortals and immortals, or even elder things. The Eldritch gods are powerful beings locked in an endless circular philosophical discourse where they discuss and debate all manner of subjects with the subject of the conversation and stances of the gods in constant flux. The debate has been without end or pause for as long as they have existed and it is unknown if it will ever reach a decisive conclusion on anything, the topics they theorize over can range from the complex to the mundane pondering on the right for magic to exist one moment to arguing over whether pants or skirts are the ideal leg wear the next. The Eldritch Gods influence on the world manifests in the language they speak for their words bend and twist the fabric of reality around them and from nothing the Elder things of the Eldritch realm are created. Depending on the subject manner being spoken of or debated and thus what is being spoke of determines the kind of elder thing that will be created at any given time and what its purpose shall be. When it was debated whether magic should or should not exist, the vespers were wrought into creation with the aim of consuming all magic from the mortal and immortal realms. When they discussed the finer points of weapon-smithing the Eldritch Forges that created the hexblades had manifested into being. And the gods take notice of the creations their words form, they see how these embodiment of their philosophy perform and affect the worlds around them and as the elder things shape the realms around them it too shapes how the Eldritch Gods debate progresses. None know what will happen should the debate ever conclude, what idea will they agree upon? Will the gods take action at its conclusion? Will it ever end, or was the aimless cyclical philosophizing the conclusion in itself? Had their spoken words and discourse retroactively created themselves? Many questions that shall remain unknown on the nature of the Gods for none have managed to successfully learn to speak the gods tongue to ask them. Were a creature to learn the language of creation though, one with a will to use it for a larger purpose than philosophy, such would be a transformative moment for the eldritch realm and beyond.
Many swim down more and more to the depths of the Void Sea thinking that at the bottom of it is where the gods themselves reside, but this is but a falsehood. These unenlightened think that the Eldritch Gods are a destination or have a physical presence that the ultimate goal is to locate. The truth is far more exciting than that though, these people who seek a familiar form of a physical corporeal entity are too narrow minded! The truth is we have already found the Eldritch Gods because the void sea ITSELF is the body of the Gods. And not just their body, it is their philosophical debate, the words they speak, the room they reside within. Their voices and tongue of creation are all around us we simply have yet to attain the knowledge to hear it and understand it. I should only hope I am so fortunate to be around by the time their long discussion comes to an end and bear witness to what transformation the final decision of the gods brings! - M.N.
