Divination

The school of Divination in its natural state is a colorless, odorless plasma-esque material that by all technicalities does not truly exist, or at least is not theorized to be a tangible material unlike the other schools of magic. Because of this odd dilemma, Divination was the very last particulate variant to have a harvesting paradigm drafted and developed, the first deposit of the magic being successfully extracted in R.201. Before, Diviner's were the sole source of Divination particulate, whom were able to channel their inner prowess over the unusual substance into machinations and applications that required its presence, such as that with the Moonstone Anchor's Major Constellation. As was discovered, Divination transcends this reality and realm, persisting as a non-existent worldly mental phenomena that abides by no physical systems; for all purposes, it just is. Despite this, Violet Clouds developed a technology capable of detecting and "realizing" Divination lodes, called Lattical Lensing. By peering into the global lattice - the hypothetical web of shared consciousness - they were able to find substantial sources and visualize the particulate, bringing it to light, and thus making it exist and able to be harvested. Unfortunately, the process is dirty and imperfect, with unforeseen consequences of carving small, inert, irreparable World Scars that lay dormant, but could potentially be re-activated should a field catalyze in its presence. Expeditions tasked with collecting Divination must first coordinate with Lattical Lensing Stations with their own mobile Lattical Monitors, triangulating anomalous readings until they find by complete chance a deposit of Divination. These deposits persist even after Evening, but are limited in resources and will be exhausted. The Lattical Monitors visualize the particulate so that the harvesting teams can collect and store the quantum, creating a field of non-existence so that they can "trap" and "see" the magic school. It is a very slow and tedious process of re-locating the Lattical Monitors and maintaining a constant line of communication with the Lattical Lensing Station, whom relays their false imaging results to the expeditions and informs them of any equipment calibrations and readjustments they may need to make. Surveyors and miners report extreme hallucinations, migraines, and internal hemorrhaging when near a Divination source, forcing the team to take turns and alternate, lest they fall ill to the rampant Divination Poisoning. Even personnel at the supposedly safe Lensing Station aren't safe, for any images of the deposit if viewed cause operators to go mad, the pictures in themselves a source of Divination which must be purged as soon as the data is transmitted to the teams. Afterwards, the captured already-refined particulate can be compressed and utilized as a resource. Like most magic schools, compressed Divination particulate is considered weaponized at Grade 1 and industrial at Grade 2; however, any purity below 60% is considered Grade 4, with no "commercial" Grade available.
In Meridian technology, Divination is highly niche and has very few uses, but is still never-the-less considered the lifeline of the empire, most notably used in powering the Moonstone Anchor and maintaining the Major Constellation's integrity, the formation of Anchor Tethers, and providing the functionality for Civil Perimeters among other small weapon uses. By augmenting Astralshaper's connection to the Major Constellation with compressed Divination, energy surplus is amplified and expanded, allowing for a larger power load across the empire. Anchor Tethers and Civil Perimeters also require Divination particulate to sustain their utility, in addition to perfecting targeting computations if applied to weaponry.
It was discovered after the events at Topaz Anchor that Divination can subsist in the mortal realm in a limited capacity, appearing as a pure-white ethereal mass that will render anyone that comes into contact with it as mere husks with no brain activity. Deposits of these Divination particulate must be exclusively harvested by Scryer drones.
