Subterranean Lake

Moist.

The Subterranean Lake is nestled beneath the summit of the South Western Mountain ridge. A grandiose arena of stone, water and decayed ruins, the lake is full of life. Many sharks, fish and coral decorate the bottom lake floor. A large crystal dances at the top of the cavern, refracting various hues of light around the open space. Three rock domed domiciles lay dormant in the water. Their roofs collapsing as the salinity etches them back in time. Invasive seaweed (lake weed?) now reaches up towards the crystal, giving the sea life a new forest to play and hide in. While many sharks swim throughout the waters, the caverns old hosts, the Triton, have long since perished. Towering over the center of the lake, a large watch tower. It's basin receding into the murky depths, it's aged parapets the perfect place to port. It watches over a chasm, long plugged.

Purpose / Function

It was speculated to be the home of the fierce Triton people, it is unknown what became of them. Their houses were devoid of life for the gnarled figure of a now deceased Merrow and hungry sharks. Their clothing left behind intact, and no fishyman skeletons remained. As if the the whole town dissipated in the night. The empty eyes of a whale-doll reflect the sorrow. Though it's true purpose is unknown, in the tower was a hastily written note.

Most of our warriors have fallen to the beast from the dark. It has wiggled itself into their brains and made thralls out of those it didn't slaughter. I haven't a clue if others are safely barricaded in their homes or not. I fear that my love has also succumbed to the furry of it or the merrow that came with it. The only chance I have to save any of the survivors is to draw it back into the hole it came out of. I'm going to use myself as bait as my last warriors distract and hopefully slay the remaining merrow. I have grabbed all the rupture stones I could out of the basement. When I get it far enough away I'll use them to collapse the tunnel, myself included. Seek equipment below and in the catacombs if you still face attackers when you find this.
Allies of the Shinning Covenant and hopeful survivors, know that the fragment of Kethrin we recovered is still safe. I urge you to protect it and send if off to another worthy ally if you recover it. It is in my sleep chambers, the largest dome, under a loose floor stone in a box lined with lead. There you will also find a key to the treasury. Keep the goal of gathering all 5 always close in your heart."
The blood on the page now ruddy and dry.

Architecture

The Three Sisters

The stony cabal lay in the other cardinal directions from the tower. The first sister was large and beautiful. The perfect home for the lurking merrow and it's familiar. An arching hallway with mineral pots float against the wall. The well-etched stone now doted with sand and dust lay still except for the sweeps of fins. Perhaps what was once a bed chamber for a beautiful Triton maiden, was now a dank cellar of a merrow trapped forever in the cavern. The Second sister was the smallest. An almost unmentionable room or perhaps to be confused with what land dwellers might call a closet. Most of it's holdings eroded by lack of maintenance. The reflective mirror now shattered, it's pieces hidden beneath the mud. The Third sister was long and gloomy. A home to a plethora of fish, yet not even their colorful scales could cast joy on this depraved spot. Smooth sarcophagi systematically placed in the halls. Unmarked or perhaps eroded, their names lost to the lake (sea?) forever. (hopefully)

The Tower

Like a big brother it towered over the entirety of the cave(also phallicly.). The belfry in disarray with only the rock and mortar left standing. It's staircase leading up from the water into a marvelous slab door. Inside was a table with many glorious and unidentifiable sigils. There were plates, silverware and goblets scattered about. An old wine cupboard locked tight, and other cabinets decorating the cylindrical room. Opposite the door was a staircase down to a locked door. The water finally meeting the inside, submerging the basement.
