Voden

Built around a great water tree, Voden is one of the few bigger cities of Fairel. It has enveloped the tree throughout the years, making it a true natural sttlement. Houses sprout from the massive tree trunk, walkways and ladders hang from its many branches. People here respect the Water spirit whose garve the tree marks and their religion is strongly influeced by its nature.   This city acts as a hub for most of its surroundings, making it a sort of capital of the area.

Demographics

Humans are the most prominent Vodeners, but ever since the occupation of the surrounding kingdoms by elves, the city has gained a considerable elf community.

Government

The city is ruled by the council of guilds. Its memebers are voted in by their respective guilds. Although not officially a part of the government, the water monks hold a great political influence.

Defences

The Vodeners rely heavily on their natural height advantage. The city is known for its skillful archers who defend the city in the time of need.

Industry & Trade

Because great bodies of water are rare in the great forest, Voden acts as the supplier for smaller settlements in the forest that do not have enough water to grow their own crops.   Wood industry is also very prominent here, Vodener woodworkers are known all over the world.

Infrastructure

The cities lifeblood is water. The tree's waterfalls are used to power the city's great lifts and to irigate its many fields among the roots as well as among the branches. Water is even used fro transport, many waterslides are used to get to a lower section of the city faster.

Architecture

Vodeners utilize primarily wooden structures thath blend in with their tree. Any stone building are built on the great near the tree base but also made as natural as possible.
