Thurstwell Vanthampur is the eldest son of Duke Thalamra Vanthampur of Baldur's Gate.
He is a pale and sullen man, seen as a recluse by his peers. Thurstwell is a veritble shut-in at the family villa near the High Hall, only venturing out when city politics absolutely demand it.
In his forties, Thurstwell has spent the majority of his adult life attempting to master the arcane arts, and devouring all information about the historic and mystical effects of the magical weave that permeates the land. His obsession with magic, rather than the family's political responsibility has not gone unnoticed by his mother. Rumor holds that Duke Vanthampur, frustrated by Thurstwell's lack of political interest, has begun grooming his younger brother Amrik to succeed her. What happens to Thurstwell at that time remains to be seen.
