Falco Zodge

Falco Zodge was the last surviving scion of Baldur's Gate's Zodge patriar family. The House of Zodge was minor in the overall social hierarchy of the city, but Falco was determined to change that.
Falco turned his grandfather's initial land purchases into a minor immigrant empire. He provided loans of gold and property to those new to Baldur's Gate. Those who are indebted to the House of Zodge were usually happy with the terms of their agreement. At least at first.
City government provided Falco, and by proxy his house, a more firm place within the structure of the patriar families and another, more strategic source of wealth. He served in the city's government as Minister of Public Welfare.
Falco was a mob lord in the purest sense. He prayed on those who have nothing upon arriving in the city, then set his heavies on them when they inevitably default. Those that could afford the "protection money" along with their loan payments were left mostly alone (though their landlord does little to maintain the properties). Those that default disappeared or "committed suicide", making way for another family, most from Amn or Calimshan. 
His final plan was to finally rise to a position fitting of his ambition - Grand Duke. Working with scions of the Vanthampur family, Zodge smuggled Calishite mercenaries into Baldur's Gate to sow discord amongst the populous. He also helped fund a resurgence of cultists of the Dead Three, who's bloodlust led to many innocent deaths in the Lower City. The master stroke was his consistent manipulation of Duke Vanthampur. Records left by Zodge show a man pulling the old Duke's strings like a puppetter, channeling her vast wealth and political influence to successfully achieve his goals, including encouraging the work of Thavius Kreeg from Elturel, sending Grand Duke Ravenguard on fool's errand to a doomed city, and finally framing the Duke for his crimes, which lead to her execution by the Flaming Fist.
