Background

The story he told everyone:
Was playing in the guilded forest with the youth of his village where they were all ambushed and captured in a skirmish by slavehunting Drow, then taken to the underdark to the Drow city of Menzoberranzan where they were then sold to the Matron of house Oblodra, then a ruling house.
Spent many decades being used as a pawn in gladiatorial like games being pitted against unspeakable monsters in impossibly outmatched battles & beaten to the very brink of death for the enjoyment of the ruling houses, slowly watching the remainders of his fellow elves being butchered in the games before finally escaping during the devastating aftermath of a war with house Baenre which saw to the utter obliteration of his captors house.
Eventually escaped to the surface realm where he survived and even thrived by whatever means were necessary, holding allegiance to no one and nothing beyond himself he vowed to be a pawn never again!
Aiming instead to become an immensely powerful wizard so that he may return once more to the underdark and lay waste to any Drow he may have the privilege of locating.
The guiding principle which steers his existence can most effectively be summarized as “The acquisition of power for the purpose of complete and inexorable personal revenge, no matter the cost!
However, the real story is a little different, unknown to even Arillious himself…
