Archibald Medes

Born the son of a Street Cleaner, Archibald was ment to persue the same "career". But his life would change when he found a little clockwork fish abandoned in a pile of trash. Fascinated by the intricate design he couldn't stop thinking of ways to utilize those ideas. Many frustating failures and malfunctioning prototypes later he finally managed to mechanize one of his father's old brooms. While his father smiled at this he humored his son and used the device to do his daily work....where he caught the attention of dwarfen master tinker Orsik who at this point had almost given up on ever finding a worthy apprentice and now saw himself confronted with a possible rival, on top of his other problems. He inquired angrily about the origin of this unsusual device but upon hearing of the young boy behind the contraption he made him an offer of apprenticeship the very same day.... Years have passed since that day and Archibald has long since become an Artificer of some renown himself. His mechanical brooms have revolutionized Neverwinter's street cleaning business and allowed his old father an early retirement. But having grown up to Orsiks stories of Master Artificers of old with their ability of incorporating magic seamlessly into their devices, he could never quite content himself with repairing old tools and gadgets and instead always dreamed of surpassing the limits of established technology and, having finally come of age, he feels like he is ready to pursue the knowledge neccesary to really make a difference.
Quite recently he finally managed to decipher the principles behind some basic spells and replicate their working by channeling the arcane power through a mechanical matrix. But now it seems that he has reached the end of what the local library can teach him so he is looking for ways to broaden his horizon....even if that means interacting with others....
