Session 1

General Summary

Last session began with the party gathered at the Gilded Lily, an inn in the city of Neverwinter, where you met and introduced yourselves to one another. The group consists of:
  • Fea (Feanar), a Dragonborn Sorcerer who evidently holds a prominent position within her clan;
  • Badger, an inquisitive Gnomish Artificer with an interest in magical items;
  • Althea, the Firbolg Druid, who for some reason left her tribal homeland and traveled to Neverwinter;
  • Wellington, a Halfling Rogue who, after failing to find success starting his own business, turned to less wholesome means of making a living; and
  • Albero, a Genasi Bard who is seemingly content to spend his time drinking and playing music.
You met Gundren Rockseeker, the dwarf who hired you to transport a shipment of mining equipment from Neverwinter to the town of Phandalin. You also met Gundren’s associate, Sildar Hallwinter, who you recognized to be a member of the Lords Alliance, a paramilitary organization that protects the towns and villages around the Sword Coast. You learned from Sildar that there have been reports recently of attacks along the Highroad and the Triboar Trail, attacks perpetrated by goblins, orcs, and troglodytes (lizardfolk). Gundren and Sildar then left Neverwinter, riding ahead of you to address some business of their own in Phandalin.    You set forth with Gundren’s supplies, heading south along the Highroad, passing through the hamlets of Evermist and Greenfield. On the afternoon of your third day of travel, as you made your way along the Triboar Trail, you came across two horses laying dead in the roadway. Upon closer inspection, you realized that these were same horses that Gundren and Sildar had set out on when they left Neverwinter. You also noticed marks in the dirt, leading from the horses to the tree line, apparently indicating that someone or something had been dragged off the trail. As you examined the scene, you were suddenly ambushed by group of goblins that had been lying in wait nearby. After dispatching your attackers, you discovered a small game trail heading north through the woods that appeared to be used by these goblins.    After clearing the horses from the middle of the Triboar, you set out along this game trail, and thanks to Badger, you managed to avoid a pit trap that had been set along way. After about a mile, the trail opened into a small clearing, with what appeared to be a cave entrance at the far end. Althea and Wellington scouted the area, discovering two more goblins concealed behind some nearby trees. You decided to launch a surprise attack of your own, and these creatures met a quick end thanks to Fea’s Burning Hands spell.
