Steam Relic

The Steam Relic is a piece of steam technology discovered by Colonel Halbert near a distant city outside Faeden. It is a smaller, more simplified version of a steam engine that uses steam to generate energy. After being found, Halbert handed it to his researcher friends in the army to investigate. They deconstructed the relic and figured out how the technology worked. Using this information, they enhanced their weapons and other equipment with basic steam technology. They then realized the non-military applications of the tech and decided that they needed to continue their research and spread it to other humans so that the humans could finally catch up to the faeries and dryads. However, the secret research was discovered by the non-human military leaders, and soon Halbert was sent to court. During his time in jail, the Steam Relic remained hidden in a government building near the Great Tree. Once Halbert was released, he managed to find and retrieve it with the help of some military friends. With the Steam Relic back in his hands, Halbert and the researchers went into hiding so that they could continue their work advancing human technology with steam.
