Tarys

Tarys, also known as the Dragon Wastes, is a country to the central west of Primus. The province is noted for its many badlands and towering spires of rock. It is home to some of the most ferocious beasts known on Primus, mainly the Dragons. It is a hodgepodge of stretches of badlands and wastes, separated by ranges of crags and canyons. Before the Adrennian Invasion, many Dragonborn and Dragons lived here. Now the area is considered desolate and abandoned.   Tarys is a rural, harsh place. Much of its population lived among the crags and badlands here, with its central city of Yol Kazim now being inhabited solely by the lizardmen-like race known as Anat Fi. Currently, none save the local fauna and Anat Fi live here.

Geography

Tarys is noted only for its diverse range of canyons and spiraling crags. The badlands that occupy the spaces between are home to few flora and hostile fauna. Natural resources on the surface seem bare, but none dare try and spare the expense of exploring beyond.

History

Tarys's history before was simple. Many Dragonborn clans claimed territory all throughout the Wastes, hunting, raiding, and generally living their nomadic tribal lifestyle. Once a year they would gather for Yar Kazi, or an annual competition among the tribes to determine who would be the de facto leading clan and the leading chieftan.   Not much is remembered of the ancient history of Tarys. The modern history, however, notates that Adrennian troops specialized in a binding ritual infiltrated Tarys and summoned the Dragonborn Gods. Much speculation surrounds these events, but the end result is the same. The Dragonborn Gods were dead and with them, the Dragonborn race and the Dragon themselves.   Politics   Before the Invasion, the Dragonborn would elect their leader through the competition of Yar Kazi. The ruling clan would be seen as the de facto leaders and every clan would have to pay tribute. The Chieftan would resolve and hear issues between each of the clans while also making safe the city and resolving local issues through the realm. This usually meant for their own benefit, of course.   Rulers   Faith The Gods are dead, but before they would worship the Dragonborn pantheon of Io and his many children.

Notable Places

Yol Kazim - The only large settlement here in Tarys. It is made primarily out of painted stone with many abandoned abodes inside. There is only one race living inside, a species of lizardmen that refer themselves to the Anat Fi.   Temple of Io - The site of the ritual and where the Dragon Gods died, strangely the temple itself was sacked and defaced during the summoning, but recently it has been cleaned and maintained. At least those that rarely pass by report it has, though, they dare not investigate further.   Deathcrag's Canyon - A massive canyon that leads to a massive basin. Noted for the rather LARGE skeleton whose massive rib bones are embedded in the cliff walls. It is speculated it was either a very large dragon, Wastes Worm, or something else entirely. Everyone hopes that it was the last of its kind.

Notable People

Khorvath Brightflame - The sole living resident of Tarys currently. Is a 'champion of Io' but is rarely seen.

Remember the Dead.

Leader Title
"They say that the dragons used to live there. That there was a whole society of 'em-- Dragons, Dragonborn, even smaller dragons! There ain't no-one there now, at least, no-one sane. Though, folks swear they see someone in that big old city. They swear it's one of the Dragonborn themselves, bronze and weilding this strange axe. Think people are just delusional, the heat gets to you out there.
