Ilahan
Ilahan, the City of Fortune, is the capital of Ahala. It is a popular tradeport and site of many embassies from countries far and wide.
Description
Ilahan is a major metropolitan area in Ahala. The city boasts a low wall, instead relying on its expansive network of allies and trade partners to ensure no harm befalls the city. The natural weather and hostile climate proves a natural defense against any would-be besiegers. Its buildings are relatively spaced out, but tight enough for a traditional city. Its population is significant, but under control.Geography
Located on the southern edge of the Northern Deep, it is one of the major cities settled on the fertile shoreline region. It sits comfortably in the transition from dusty desert to green fields. Due to the city's careful expansion, it does not take any specific shape, instead inching outwards and closer towards the ocean rather than towards the direction of the desert. As time goes on, however, the direction will have to reverse.Society
Ahalans take great pride in living in any city, but most of all: Illahan. They see the cultural significance of their capital being a cultural, trade, and diplomatic center as a major milestone for their nation. Most of the natives, regardless of class, greet others with happy faces and warm welcomes for enriching their cities no matter who the visitor might be. Though it may not be as grand as the other developed nations, there is a certain pride sensed as soon as one steps on the stone streets from the city itself. It is not uncommon to hear haggling going on at all times of the day, even late into night.Customs
Ahalans celebrate Primus-wide holidays as they were the ones that helped spread the most popular and used ones via their trading caravans. Besides this, however, there is an abundance of festivals and celebrations done every month. A majority of these are religious in nature and hold traditionalist ties to remind everyone of their history. Yet, it is not uncommon to see the more recreational ones have a bit more flair and grandeur, in account with Ahala's rather higher wealth per-capita. Ask around and you can find plenty of Ahalans who would be glad to teach a stranger some basics of negotiation, so that they may ply them later for a better deal.History
Long ago, it is said that the Gods touched down upon Primus to show Maajid Bandaari the golden touch one must employ to be a successful merchant and tradesman. Even further beyond that, however, they have said to guided their people once to an ancient ruin where they were given the power to make the land fertile. It was when this happened that Ilahan was founded, a beacon of civilization amidst a dreary and desolate wasteland. And so it was, a guiding beacon and the site of a prosperous town that eventually swelled and grew when the Sultan moved his palace here-- at the request of the Bandaari family.Rumors and Legends
It is said that when Takla visited Maajid and laid with him, that she decided to stay and live a mortal life. When the vessel became old and her time to return back to her plane came, Maajid built a magnificent tomb for her out in the desert. There, her body still remains, with her spirit resuming its duties above. Where this tomb is or how to come upon it, has all been lost to the sand-- much like the rumored tomb itself.Notable Locations
House of Wisdom - The center of government that isn't the Sultan's Palace. It houses most of the embassies and ambassadors, along with Ahalan statesmen. The Great Bath - A luxurious and often premium whorehouse. It is also known as a place to enjoy a good show and, if you are part of the more discrete, where a fair amount of slave dancers are sold. The Site of Rebirth - This open air complex is a place of worship. With statues and altars to perform daily rituals and ceremonies towards the Gods of Ahala, it is rare to find other faiths displayed openly here. The Sand Crab - A co-owned tavern that offers many twists that one might not expect. It is not the most popular tavern, but presents itself to unique individuals when needed.

"Sunyar al-Hajif said that one of the ruins revealed itself last night! They say that strange men and autonomous constructs patrol the outside, only to disappear at night! By Omir, I wish that these old ruins weren't so dangerous. We have coin to be making and goods to be peddling!"
