Cresias
Cresias is the largest city in Western Esteria, having a population of about 25,000 people.
Demographics
Cresias is compased largely of humans, with other races such a gnomes, warforged, and halflings making up a decent size of the population as well.
Government
Cresias is ruled by a parliamentary system of elected officials, and is beholden to the Boule of Esteria.
Defences
A large statue of a woman decked in hoplite armor bearing a torch stands before the seagates of Cresias, the Colossus of Cresias, which in reality is an automaton with a challenge rating of 22. Other than this, the city has a fleet of 30 high-class ships, and a dedicated military center.
Guilds and Factions
- The Magekeepers have an undercover base located in Creasias.
- The Mapmakers have a building located in the Agora.
- The Immortals have a base located in the military district.
History
While Cresias has been around for millennia, the most important point in the city's history was its involvement in the War of Attilus. It was during this war that the legendary Colossus of Cresias was constructed, which single-handedly defeated the great Titan of Attilus in single combat, allowing the cleric Pelea enough time to finish her spell of banishment and send the island of Attilus into the realm of water. The engineer behind this colossus, a warforged named Vulcan, was hailed as a hero, and a statue dedicated to him stands in the center of the city's agora.
Tourism
- The general storekeeper is named Petros, a human native of Cresias. He's boisterous and entertaining, and is always up for hearing a new story.
- The head of Cresias' branch of the Mapmakers is a female gnomes named Samatia, hailing from Athos. She's flustered, incredibly sarcastic, and somewhat prying.
- The head of the brothel is a Bacchus-like man with no discernable name. He's typically calm and flirtatious, though this may be more because of the fact that he's a raging alcoholic than anything else.
- The Temple of Maknor is looked over by the High Priestess Carthia, a member of the Oracles of Esteria.
- Cresias holds the only pathleading to the Oracle of Cresias, home to the Oracle Agriope.
Architecture
Like most Esterian settlement, Cresias is constructed largely of marble, granite, and bronze, with mechanical workings such as pipes and lights running through nearly every street. Statues and pillars play a large part in buildings, and are typically highlighted.
