Bound before

A world drowned in perpetual cloud and endless forest. Great, ancient trees stretch far beyond sight, their canopies woven into a living ceiling that swallows the sky. Beneath them, the land breathes in shadow and silence—yet never in emptiness.

Welcome to Everlands , the word is shrouded in near-perpetual gloom. A heavy, cloud-choked sky presses low over endless forests of colossal, ancient trees. Their trunks are wide as towers, their branches tangled into vast ceilings that block what little light tries to break through. From a distance, the world appears dark, muted, and almost lifeless. But that impression is false. Because within the shadow of these forests, life does not fade— it transforms. The Great Forest World is dominated almost entirely by vast woodland ecosystems. Entire regions are consumed by interconnected forests that stretch beyond known borders, making it difficult to determine where one territory ends and another begins. These forests are not uniform. They are alive with variation. Some areas are suffocatingly dark, where even sound feels absorbed by the trees. Others open into breathtaking pockets of color where light fractures strangely through the canopy, illuminating the world below in unnatural hues. Travelers rarely describe the forest as one place. Instead, they describe it as many worlds stitched together.

Magical Biomes Within the Forest Despite the oppressive skies and towering darkness, the forest floor thrives with extraordinary life.

Unpredictable Flora Plants do not follow consistent patterns. Flowers bloom in impossible colors—shifting between tones that seem too vivid to exist naturally. Some petals shimmer faintly in low light, while others appear to absorb it entirely.

Living Vines and Growth Vines wind through the forest in deliberate, almost intentional patterns. In some regions, they form natural bridges or arches. In others, they grow too densely to pass without care—or negotiation.

Regional Magic Zones Each area of forest carries its own environmental “tone,” as if the land itself has moods: One region may feel serene and luminous, with floating spores of light drifting between trees Another may feel heavy and still, where color drains from everything except a single dominant hue Others shift unpredictably, where plants appear to respond to emotion, presence, or movement No two regions feel truly identical, even when they are geographically close.

Atmosphere of the World The sky is almost always overcast, filtering sunlight into a dim, diffused glow. Because of this, the world never feels fully bright—but it also never becomes completely dark. Instead, it exists in a constant in-between state: muted shadows softened by strange bioluminescence deep forests broken by sudden bursts of color silence interrupted by unfamiliar natural rhythms There is a sense that the world is always waiting for something, even though nothing ever arrives. Human Presence Civilization exists, but it is small compared to the overwhelming scale of the forests. Settlements are often built: in clearings carved over generations along ancient natural paths near stable, predictable “safe zones” within the forest People have learned not to fight the forest, but to live with it. They understand that the land is not merely terrain—it is something active, something that shapes life around it.

The Forest’s Nature (Unspoken Truth) Though rarely spoken aloud, most people accept a simple understanding: The forest is not just growing. It is changing. Not violently. Not quickly. But constantly—quietly—like a thought forming in the background of reality. Those who spend long enough within it begin to notice that it does not behave like ordinary wilderness. Paths are remembered differently by different travelers. Landmarks feel familiar even when they are new. And sometimes, a place feels as though it has always been waiting to be found.

Core Tone of the Setting Dark fantasy wilderness with surreal beauty Oppressive natural scale contrasted with vibrant magic Exploration of unfamiliar but “alive” environments Subtle unease rather than overt danger Wonder and discomfort existing at the same time The forest is not a barrier to the world. It is the world.
