Queendom of Cyrpus

A land once known for strife and subjugation, the Queendom of Cyrpus is not only a succeeding nation, but a story of the underdog taking the reigns of its own destiny. Cyrpus is a place of intense national patriotism and an insatiable desire for self rule and progress. From the blood, sweat and suffering of her people they achieved the impossible dream of independence from a despotic and vindictive republic across the sea. Today they stand resolute against the foreign powers with a sizable navy, a booming economy, and a unified people. They are ruled by a hereditary monarchy hailing from their national hero and first Queen Ganna the Protector.

Structure

The Queendom is organized with the Queen or King as the head of state. Below them are the members of the Royal Court. There is no strict number for those on the Court and many can be added as needed to fill the needs of administration. Below the Royal Court are the Citizen's Parliament which are representatives from the different regions of Cyrpus that make appeals to the Royal Court to suggest laws up the chain of command.

History

The Queendom began after an event known as the Elevation. When Ganna the Protector freed Cyrpus from the hands of Silosian Republic and set sail to return to the people, the masses gathered at the sea docks to greet her battle fleet. The moment she stepped onto the dock the cheering crowds seized her up and in a parade of glorious revelry and carried her to the grand administrators palace built for the former Silosian governors. They sat her upon the governor's throne and declared her the ruler over all Cyrpus. As word spread of this event across the island, parades and parties celebrating Ganna and the freedom of Cyrpus began to spring up in every town and city. There was very little resistance by any in Cyrpus against this new monarchy. In the years that followed, Ganna handcrafted a governing structure from what she imagined was the most desirable by the people and their cultural disposition. Contrary to what many historical scholars would expect from a situation in Cyrpus, Ganna did not reject being the ruler of the island nor did she attempt to establish direct rule as a democracy or a republic. Since their greatest suffering came at the hands of the mercantile republic in Silos there was a distrust for rule by "financial mobs" as they were called by the newly freed people. Cyrpines were culturally acclimated to strong-handed rule after centuries of domination by Phantinians, Emperals and Silosians and merely wanted to transplant that power to a line of monarchs they believed they could trust and had experienced similar trials.

Demography and Population

The Queendom has a moderately sized number of people being one of the Great Islands. It's people are mostly made up of the Sea-Fare Mannish racial line with splashes of immigrant populations like Beastmen, Nortilians, Dustmen and Emperals and some Nelanians. Only the Mannish are represented in the Royal Court and can ascend to the throne of the Queendom.

Territories

The Queendom holds all lands of the Great Island of Cyrpus and the Jumper Isle in the Bay of Ill Sights. They are ancestral lands of the Sea-fare Mannish, but have been colonized by the Phantinians, Emperals in the past.

Military

The Cyrpine military forces were founded when Ganna the Protector had set sail her fleet of ships off the coast of Aramana which she had made in secret. They are very close replicas of the ships in the Silosian navy and had devastated the Silosians in a surprise attack. Since that time the Queendom had, by necessity, expanded their defensive land armies and increased the number of ships in their navy to be a force to be reckoned with in the sea region. They currently hold the third highest number of large scale sea battle warships on Everim and the second highest number of ships armed with the new and experimental, shard-based magical cannonry.

Religion

The official religion of Cyrpus is the theology espoused by the Temple of the Free. Based on an ancient prophecy that foretold the coming of a hero that would free Cyrpus from tyranny and evil, it was previously just a general, cultural mythos that floated around in the pubs and mead halls of the Sea-fare Mannish of the island. When Ganna the Protector realized this prophecy, many in her inner circle took this as the perfect propaganda to unite the people under her rule. Ganna herself names many of them the high priests of the prophecy where they established centralized temples for faithful worshipers to revel in their newfound freedom.   The theology of the Temple is less so a formalized set of dogmas, but more of a divined version of Cyrpine patriotism. The cultural mores of the island are raised up to the level of cooperation with the divine powers and the spirits of the ancestors. Ganna herself is seen close to a demi-goddess being the source of the prophecy's fulfillment. The Temple stresses Cyrpines to always maintain the traditions of self-reliance and national identity in their daily lives, to always give themselves to the service of their fellow citizens, and to abhor all forms of slavery and subjugation.   The Temple sees to the needs of most charitable operations on the island where many homeless and downtrodden rely on for survival and support.   Aside from the Temple, many hold to simple Ancestor Worship like their old cousins in Scuorpio and the pantheons therein.

Foreign Relations

Cyrpus is a land with a history of being subjugated by powers across the sea. There have been precious few moments in recorded history where the island has been independent with the current age being the clear pinnacle of their achievement of self governance. Based on this, Cyrpus has an affinity for less powerful countries and states which have no history of war or colonial conquest. Conversely, all the classic players that dominated Everim's lands like the Golden Phantinian Empire, the Imperial Empire of Unicora and the Republic of Silos are held in deep animosity and distrust by the Queendom. Most especially hated among these are the Silosians whom had been the power that enslaved Cyrpus with ruthless cruelty and who the Cyrpines had won independence from.   The Emperals from Unicora are generally disliked by the Queendom's people since it is common knowledge the Emperals wish to reunite the Empire whenever they see the chance, but their dominance at the markets forces them to cooperate in heavy trade with them. The three outlying Emperal colonies that surround the great island also cause much strain on the relations between Cyrpus and Unicora.   Phantinians don't typically draw too much ire from the Cyrpines since the old Phantinian empire has been gone for so long. Most history books also point to them as having brought much learning, culture and the power of the shards across Everim so, logically, Cyrpus has much to thank them for. In recent times Phantinians are known to rarely be seen outside of their homelands and have kept largely to themselves in the grand scheme of global affairs. Aramana and the beastmen are much liked by the Cyrpines as they had allied themselves with Ganna the Protector during The Uprising and had a common enemy in the Silosians.   Dustmen are the close racial cousins to the Sea-Fare Mannish. The Sultanate of Scuorpio shares friendly relations with the Queendom.   Nortilians, apart from independent warriors and mercenaries, are almost universally disliked by all nations due to the high number of pirates that originate from Nortilia.   The many countires and nations of Nelania rarely appear to greet the Royal Court of the Queendom and hence are seen neutrally.

Agriculture & Industry

Cyrpus contains many grasslands and farms for husbandry. The coastal cities depend on the hard work of the farmers to produce the food and drink that keeps the island alive. On the coasts the cities mainly depend on fishing and the flow of precious jewels, metals and shards from the mines in the North Mountains.

Trade & Transport

Cyrpus has risen up to be a dominant player in Middle Sea trade. Their navy guards their trade routes with fanatical efficiency. Without sea trade, Cyrpus would surely fall to the powers that had enslaved it once again. This is the greatest nightmare scenario for the whole of the Queendom. So great was the fear of falling back into the hands of the foreigners that Ganna herself dedicated much of her late life memoirs to instruct ship captains on how best to conduct the protection of the island through naval tactics.

Currency
The globally recognized currency on Everim are shards, but precious metals like gold, silver, copper are the common forms of currency minted by the major nations. Cyrpus's currency is built around small rectangular strips called Freebits forged from the aforementioned materials. Cyrpus's command in trade is quite sizable and Freebit value is very close to the most popular currency on Everim, the Imperial Coin, from The Empire of Unicora.
Major Imports
Cyrpus lacks large tree forests and don't have very extensive mining operations for shards, so they take in more shards and lumber than they send out.
Legislative Body
The Royal Court is the main legislative body of the Queendom. Members of the court rule over the different aspects of the economy, law, military, infrastructure, diplomacy and so on and they each put forth drafts for new laws to the King or Queen which deal with their realm of governance. The Regent would then approve or reject the proposals.
Judicial Body
The King or Queen is responsible for the interpreting of the Document of a Free and Emancipated People which is the official constitution of Cyrpus and from which all laws branch from based on the rights and protections contained within it. The ruler also has sole authority to appoint judges to levy their judgement for them.
