The Sanguine Desert

The Sanguine Desert

A great desert expanse in the southern part of the Esmarian Empire, the Sanguine Desert span the area of a medium sized country. The hot and radiating sun, is not the only challenge one might encounter in this region. Great sand dunes thousands of feet high, scavenger animals are desperate for food and mirages that trick even the most experienced travelers and traders.

Ruins, lore and intrigue

The Sanguine Desert holds a lot of importance for the Esmarian Empire. A local group of explorers stumbled upon what seemed like ancient ruins. Upon reporting their findings to the Esmarian Academy of Lore, multiple archeologists were sent to investigate the ruins. What they found were ruins of an old civilization. Forgotten and eroded in history. Recovered from the ruins was a plethora of magic items of unknown origin and use. These items have since been investigated of at the academy and have been catalogued. These ruins are still far from fully explored and are still being researched at current date. It is rumored to be a lot of loot and lore still undiscovered in the ruins, but finding them can be tricky.

Locations of interest

Given the size of the Sanguine Desert, there are lot of locations that might intrigue adventurers and explorers, but there are a few that stand out.
The Sanguine Oasis
A large oasis situated about the middle of the desert, span the size of a city. A natural water reservoir filled with ground water supply the surrounding area. Passing traders from the Hem Faldihr coalition in the south, the Aurea Forest in the north, and the coast city of Farnfoss to the west all meet up at this oasis and host a huge bazaar. The resulting market is rich of exotic goods from all over Kapira.
