Personal history

Rose was created by the Marquis’s alchemical experiments, which took place shortly after his ascension, and the first of his harem. She was designed specifically to be the ideal woman, gorgeous, gentle, and graceful. This was very important to the Marquis Lazel, after enduring a lifetime of abuse from his hateful mother and his cruel older sisters.
After being sculpted and awakening, Rose seemed to be exactly that. She was devoted to the Marquis and followed his every order. She is bound to him like a typical summoner-familiar relationship.
However, slowly, she experienced many hardships throughout her life with the Marquis. She was mistreated by many of the Marquis’s acquaintances, who were annoyed by her sensitive nature and looked down on a woman who allowed herself to be lowered into a concubine. While the Marquis comforted her when she spoke about her woes, he did nothing about them, which greatly angered and distressed her. She would eventually request to be taken out of the public life, which was obliged. She first started to rebel in small ways, to express her displeasure, but this was harshly punished by the Marquis. At the time, she viewed this as an immense betrayal, but realized, later in life, that the Marquis didn’t see her as an equal, only a pet to play with and discipline.
To add to her troubles, Rose was discovered to be sterile. The Marquis began looking for a human wife for an heir, recruiting Roseanne. Her presence at first distressed Rose
This was when the Marquis began looking into other avenues, recruiting the human woman Roseanne into his harem. Roseanne’s introduction certainly distressed Rose, who saw her as a replacement, despite the Marquis’s contrary words. She tried to move past her negative feelings and genuinely forge a bond with her. And they did, in many ways, becoming very close.
She later has Rosette through unknown means, despite being technically sterile.

Intellectual Characteristics

She easily cries, both from emotional distress and physical pain. She’s extremely sensitive to other people’s issues and their thoughts on her. She usually wants for everyone to be happy, and acts as a mediator. When she’s not shedding tears of sympathy, she acts as a gentle older sister figure to her fellow Roses, leading and guiding them. She’s also something of a mentor figure, but for her soft heart and vacillation, she can be surprisingly firm when she wants to be. She’s also very sentimental, and keeps a lot of tokens, those from her fellow Roses and the Marquis.

Morality & Philosophy

In reality, however, Rose is a very cold and calculating person. She puts on a demeanor of helplessness for defensive purposes. At times, she can be presumptuous and often takes actions based on what she thinks, not others. Not that she’s insensitive to their complaints, but simply because she trusts her judgment over theirs. She also can be ruthless towards those outside of her perceived family, whom she can be infantilizing with. The real Rose is something of a mystery, as her true nature has been buried for so long that it’s difficult to tell where the acting stops.
