Fendregar
Fendregar was a true neutral flame elk god of nature, balance, freedom, flora, fauna, wildfires, hunting, and growth. He was the patron of clerics, druids, and rangers - and sometimes paladins. He sought to protect the natural life cycle of all living things. He saw the world, civilization, expansionism, spirit, and reclamation as a scale. He showed no ill will toward society or nature. He does loathe, however, those who disrespect the environment and those who will take advantage of the great gifts of the wild and not share them.
"Fendregar's presence is a reminder that nature is both beautiful and dangerous. But if we respect it and work with it, we can achieve amazing things."
Description
Fendregar takes the shape of a massive elk, with intelligent orange eyes, antlers seemingly made of charcoal on fire (representing the crowning of a wildfire in a canopy), and fur that moves and billows like cinders in a gentle breeze. His hooves are either also made of charcoal and on fire or black with a greenish tint. It is said that when Fendregar walks on the mortal plane, his feet will either alight the ground beneath him or leave behind a trail of vines, shrubbery, and seedling trees (signifying natural rebirth).Personality
The typical demeanor of Fendregar was level-headed, even in times of duress. Peace was always the favored outcome in any situation he found himself in. He cared deeply for nature but understands the necessity of mortals harnessing any natural resources. He deeply despised those who take more than they need, however. He was known to care little for mortal worship or holy sites and only asked for his followers to maintain peace and balance between nature and the rest of the realm. He granted abilities and powers to clerics, druids, and rangers that he himself deemed worthy of maintaining his cause of peace and balance.Worshipers
Clerics, druids, and rangers typically served as Fendregar's maintainers of peace. Any being who sought to respect nature and its gifts was quickly accepted into Fendregar's care. Paladins of Fendregar were extremely rare and considered the most dedicated to Fendregar's teachings.
