Europe, 1347 AD

The Black Death strikes the European continent in 1347 AD, sweeping in from Asia, and taking the populace by storm. Urban centers quickly become breeding grounds for the plague, which then spreads to the more rural communities. The cause of this plague is unknown, however its results are all too real... Zombies.   As the undead spread throughout the known world, humanity begins to undergo changes that will drastically affect history; Some people flock to the Catholic Church, while others look to the Old Gods, both fearing that the lack of faith and abundance of blasphemy has brought down the divine plague. Power struggles erupt as nations crumble and fall. Free Companies and ambitious men roam the countryside, seeing the disorder as a tool for them to rebuild in their own image.   In these uncertain times of conflict, magic users are sought out by two groups of people, those who would blame the plague on their unholy gifts, and those who see them as paragons of salvation. Because of this, magic tends to be well hidden, and less used, as the inquisition and their witch hunts are prevalent in nearly every region.   Life has changed, from the simple peasant to the most noble of kings, and the survivors must change with it. Enduring such a plague will test not only the survival and combat skills of all humanity, but their will to live and adapt to a world that desires to eat their flesh.
