Temrei, once a proud kingdom rich in culture, now lies in ruin in the wake of the recent Weissic-Kessian War, as its people struggle to rebuild their home. During the conflict, Temrei unwillingly became the battleground where forces of the Weissic Empire clashed with the armies of Kessia, as the two superpowers fought for control of the territory. Its strategic location acts as a land bridge between Kessia and the western territories of the Weissic Empire, as well as offering access to both the Weissic Sea and the Gulf of Temrei, making it invaluable to anyone seeking to control the surrounding region. Today, following a treaty between the Weissic Empire and Kessia, Temrei lies as neutral territory, home only to the land's surviving population and those who would seek to wrest control of it. Many villages and cities that survived the conflict are slowly rebuilding, hopeful that one day they will return Temrei to its former glory. With its governing structure shattered, these settlements are largely self governed, isolated groups. Despite the war having ended nearly five years ago, the land is still rife in conflict. Skirmishes between settlements over resources and land are commonplace, and local warlords as well as enterprising factions from other lands constantly vie to establish a new power structure to gain control of the land. In the depopulated wastes of Temrei, one often runs across armed men of all stripes - mercenaries, soldiers from the disbanded Temreiic legions, common bandits, and scavengers that wander the battlefields stripping corpses of valuables.
