Kessia is the largest nation in the world and the dominant economic power, with abundant resources and ideal geographic location in the heartland of the continent. The western coast of Kessia is the busiest and most heavily populated despite the capital city being located in the mountains to the east. Dozens of large port towns and hundreds more small fishing villages line the coast and act as the world’s central hub of trade, its central location in the continent making it an ideal destination for merchants. The landscape of Kessia can be described as a vast expanse of rolling, windswept hills and wide grassland plains with large deciduous forests and abundant rivers, bisected horizontally by a towering mountain range. Kessia's temperate climate and fertile soil make it a haven for good farmland and the country's wine is especially well known across Ettor. The Kessian people are a model of duality, split between rugged hard working agriculturalists and learned, bookish individuals. Kessia's major cities bustle with activity as booming trade and highly competitive centers of learning draw heavy business, while solitary monasteries dot the landscape where monks live in almost complete solitude, rarely venturing from their homes. Ethnic Kessian humans are the dominant race in Kessia, though races from all over the world are a common sight in major cities. Kessia, for this reason can be considered the true cultural hub of the world. Kessia is considered one of the nicest places to live on Ettor, its booming economy and comfortable weather making it easy to fall in love with. It is not without its dangers however, and in some ways, Kessia can be more dangerous than even the wilderness of Weismark. Kessia is a relatively new nation, having been formed from a conglomerate of what were previously individual countries. The Kessian government has struggled to maintain control of all of its territory, and the military is stretched thin. Crime spiked as a result, and major cities are teeming with criminal organizations. Additionally, there have been several attempted coups over the past two decades, some nearly succeeding, leading to high tensions within Kessia. Kessia is overall the most technologically advanced nation in the world. Its central location and comfortable climate caused it to become the world's most heavily trafficked region, with trade routes constantly coming and going from all of its neighboring countries. The exchange of technology through trade coupled with its vast economic power has caused a scientific boom that propelled it ahead of other countries. Medicine is its most eagerly researched science, as the need to combat disease rises every year with the growing population. Doctors, scientists and alchemists are in a constant race to achieve the next big milestone in medical technology, which has unfortunately led to countless ethical disasters in Kessia's scientific community.
