The island of Gento is regarded as the most mysterious human civilization in the world, home to a reclusive and xenophobic people who are protected by an unknown power that clings to the island and its old ruins. Gento is the smallest human nation, but they are feared for their tribal and reclusive nature and for their alliance with the Yunagi islands Koda and Isaio. Gento contains a very high concentration of ancient ruins that cause strange effects on the land, and unexplainable phenomena occur here more than anywhere else in the world. Despite living next door to Gento, the Yunagi fear the land so much that they will not set foot there without a guide. Gento is a colder climate than the tropical islands to the south, and is almost constantly overcast due to the clouds rolling in from the ocean to the east. Large swathes of grassland dotted with rocky outcroppings constitute most of the island's geography, the dull mossy landscape accentuated by bright, red-leafed flora. A mountain range, its peaks obscured in the clouds, spans the length of the island from north to south. The south-western coast of Gento is highly volcanic and sparsely populated, with lava flows spilling over the blackened cliffs and into the sea. Religion in Gento is something of a controversy in the mainland, and many of the traditions common in Gento are looked upon in disgust by mainlanders, seen as occult or inhumane. Worship of Outsiders is common unlike in other human nations, and is part of daily life for the Gentonese. Shrines to Outsiders can be found in most towns and cities, and dot the wilderness as well.
