Ettea A World on the Rise

Ettea is a vast and wondrous world, filled with awe-inspiring landscapes, mysterious creatures, and a rich tapestry of cultures and civilizations. With three massive continents that surround the glistening expanse of the Great Sea, it is a place of both great beauty and untold dangers.   In the aftermath of The Calamity, the world of Ettea has been irrevocably changed. Once a realm of peace and prosperity, the sudden appearance of a portal to the Abyss threw the world into chaos. The three great civilizations that had thrived around the Great Sea were lost in the blink of an eye, leaving the rest of the world reeling in shock and uncertainty.   Despite the passage of time, the wounds left by the Calamity are still felt by the people of Ettea. The great portal to the Abyss may be dormant for now, but the world is now two civilizations smaller, with another shattered to pieces. The coasts of the Great Sea, once a hub of trade and ideas, are now simply called the Known World, a reminder of how much has been lost.   The remaining civilizations on Ettea have been forced to adapt to this new reality, with each group struggling to carve out a place for themselves in the world. On Nordheim a patchwork of city-states and self-governing groups maintain a fragile peace, with their lords gathering periodically in the Council of the Lord's Alliance to try to keep the peace.   Beyond Nordheim, however, chaos reigns supreme. In the Yangarian Rainforest, vicious jungle tribes battle for dominance, while in the Free Settlements anything goes and travelers are just as likely to be welcomed with open arms as they are to be turned into a hot meal. But the true dangers lie even further afield, in the demon wastes that stretch to the south, blocking off the rest of the continent to all but the bravest and hardiest of adventurers.   And then there are the Shattered Isles, the remnants of what was once the third landmass of Ettea. Once a cradle of civilization, the isles were torn asunder by the Calamity, leaving behind a shattered landscape of ruins and tattered communities. Today, the Shattered Isles are a dangerous and foreboding place, populated by strange and twisted creatures that have adapted to the harsh realities of their environment. Demons roam the ruins of once-great cities, preying on any who dare to venture too close. Tainted humanoids eke out a living amongst the wreckage of their former homes, constantly on guard against marauding bands of raiders and slavers. And yet, even amidst the devastation, there are whispers of ancient knowledge and lost secrets waiting to be uncovered by brave adventurers willing to risk it all for the promise of power and glory.   And yet, even in the face of such danger and uncertainty, the people of Ettea persist. They are a hardy and resilient folk, shaped by their struggles and their triumphs. They worship a pantheon of gods and goddesses, each with their own stories and legends, and their cities and towns are filled with the sounds of magic and industry alike.   For those who are brave enough to seek it out, the world of Ettea offers endless opportunities for adventure and discovery. Whether you seek out lost artifacts and treasures, battle fearsome monsters in the wilds, or simply try to navigate the complex politics of the remaining civilizations, there is always something new to be found in this world of wonders.
