A mace was a simple blunt melee weapon that was used to bludgeon similar to a club.

Types of Maces

Flanged Mace

A flanged mace was a mace with a flanged head, where the metal is folded into dense edges. Still used to bludgeon, flanged maces were notably more effective against heavy armors.

Shishpar

Similar to the flanged mace, the shishpar was a mace with a blunt crown-shaped head designed to bludgeon and ruin armor.

Tie Bian

A tie bian was a blunt sword-like mace that was ribbed. It was initially developed as a less-than-lethal weapon, but was as effective as any other mace. The ribs gave it the ability to deflect incoming blades. It was a preferred weapon of monks.
