Guide to Wizard Garb

As commonly known, wizards tend to wear flashy and colorful outfits. Many theorize this a way to honor their ancestors, but their clothes work more like a warning to others. In this guide, you will find a comprehensive list of what the colors and patterns of their robes mean.

Table of contents

Colors

Common wizard robe colors include, red, purple, green, and blue. However, you are able to find robes of all colors such as pink, grey, black, yellow, and orange.

Red

If a wizard is wearing red robes, this means they are keen on wild magic. Most of these wizards can be found in small villages near forests where they are able to learn the secrets of the forest magic.

Red robes are also commonly taken as a sign that the wizard wearing them may not be able to entirely control their magic since it is wild.

Purple

Purple robes are a sign of magic that works with minds. While many worry these wizards will get inside of their head, mind magic is a long and tiring process that most wizards won't go through the trouble for unless absolutely needed.

Green

Green robes are an indication that the wizard works with conjuring magic. With certain materials, these wizards are able to conjure items. However, the higher the mass of an object, the more of a toll it will take on the wizard.

Blue

A wizard wearing blue robes is a practitioner of stable magic. Stable magic was formed from wild magic, but is more contained and small, making the spells easier to manage. Ou of all the robe colors, blue is the most commonly worn.

Pink

A wizard dawning a pink robe is one who is highly dangerous. These wizards are known for being some of the most powerful in history, taking wild magic and bending it to their will instead of letting the magic flow through them.

Grey

Grey robes signify that the wizard is either still an apprentice, or has not chosen a brand of magic to focus on. A common reason for not choosing a branch is because they have dabbled in all, but not particularly liked any of them, continuing to pick up small bits here and there.

Black

Black robes means that the wizard has chosen dark magic. Some spells from this brand of magic include turning people into living puppets, and making it so a person comes back alive. Once a wizard wears a black robe, they are most likely never to take it off.

Yellow

Those wearing yellow robes practice a special kind of magic called sigil magic. It originates from runes carved into everything. They've taken these runes and learned how to turn them into written spells, which yellow robes wizards use.

Orange

Wizards who wear orange robes also practice sigil magic, but with stable magic runes instead of using the ones found in wild magic.

Patterns

Patterns on a wizards' robes can signify many things about them, such as what they value most, how they feel about certain topics, and what they are willing to lose. Because there are so many different types, there are only the top ten patterns listed here.

Diamonds

A pattern of diamonds on a wizard's robes says they value money or the price of things most. This pattern is most used since wizards often travel alone and have to make their way in the world with no one to help them.

Circles

Patterns of circles means that the wizard is currently romantically taken. This pattern is also fairly common since most wizards will find someone to help them not feel so alone in the world.
