Life in requiem

"Life is simple, here in Nesy. You wake up, get dressed, start your labors and pray to God-King Khali that another deity doesn't ruin your crops for shits and giggles. One cannot express the frustration with the fickleness of the Gods. One cannot conceive the aloofness of the Gods. But all can feel their wrath.   Life was simple, or so I've been told. There was a time we're you could go about in peace without the constant pestering of Gods. A time when all man had to worry about was putting food on the table and paying taxes. Those days are gone and have been for over a millennium. So far in fact, that we call this "The 2nd Age". I come from a prestigious bloodline. My ancestor was one of four who stopped death incarnate from ravaging the world. Could've saved the Gods of the First Age from demise too, but The Severance was destined to happen. Funny word, "Destined".   Life is not simple, we are all beholden to fate. As much as I believe in free will, the will of the Gods is far greater. I wish to become more than a piece on the board, more than merely a player. I want to be the creator. I want to strike down these Gods and bring back the times when you need not worry of myths becoming fact. Where you don't need to rely on the uncertainty of so-called heroes. A time where we can live in modesty and not the fantastical.   Life is difficult, intricate, and unclear. These Gods would have you believe otherwise."     -A sermon from Ketma Hunithanea, The 1213th year of the 2nd Age
