Session 4: Bound by Death

Upon the parties return to the land of Barovia, they came across the bodies of those they had left behind, killed and strung up for all to see. They brought the bodies down from their resting places, revived Cedar, and burn Dains body. With Cedar returned to them, they set out to get some much needed rest back at Richtens Tower, which had served as their makeshift home for the time being. At some point that night, Cedar had risen up with the intent of going to castle Ravenloft in search of something very dear to her, Ezmerelda has caught and charmed her into staying outside, hidden, and observing the castle until the rest of the party managed to join her.

With that exchange done with, Ezmerelda convinced the party not to worry about Cedar, as she had helped her to find places to hide while they searched for more allies in the fight against Strahd. With that very thing in mind, they set out for the Wizard of Wines winery, where they had hoped to get the wine flowing again, wine being the only source of relief for many in Barovia. When they arrived they were greeted by a very intellectual old man who postulated on the difference between plants and animals, and also informed them that his house had been taken over by angry people with angry plants and he would very much appreciate them clearing it out for him.

As the party approached and sought to scope out the surroundings, they came across a red dragonborn by the name of Ruby, who had heard the same speech from the delightful old man and agreed to help reclaim his home. A short battle with people and plants ensued, and the house was slightly damaged but was returned to the Martikov family in almost no time. Dimitri (the brilliant old man) then informed them that there are magic gems that helped them grow the grapes necessary for the wine, and that the gems had been stolen. The party was still raring to go, and immediately began to seek out these gems.

Stumbling upon a path from a nearby dangerous place where one of the gems had been taken, the party quickly realized that whatever had been there was carving its way towards the winery, and eagerly set off in search of the monster that sought to harm their friends. Another short journey later, and they came across an old dead angry tree with the green gem they were seeking at its heart. They soundly thrashed the large angry dead old tree, but before they could make it back to their newfound friends, Strahd paid them a visit. There was a fight, Hakeber almost died, Strahd punched a dude and the tree behind him in half, it was a good time. That night, while everyone was taking shelter in the winery Ruby performed a small wedding ceremony for Dimitri's son and his wife, who hadn't really had the chance to have on themselves. Im sure that they'll live happily ever after.
