Session 2: Betrayal
The group of strangers, now realizing there was an extra one among them, decided to have a small sit down and chat about what happened, exchanged name, and decided to seek the leader of the Vistani (colorful locals) known as Madam Eva.
Madam Eva gave gifts to each of the party members, two of whom almost murdered everyone with said gifts, and proceeded to perform a reading of sorts using a specialized deck of tarot cards. The outcome of the reading gave the party several locations to visit, in order to claim objects that would help them in their fight against the lands ruler, Strahd Von Zarovich.
That night, undercover of darkness, a messenger from Strahd approached the party, and left behind an invitation to join him in his castle, that he might speak with them and help them to understand why they had arrived.
No one but the recipient knew about it. And they almost never found out.
After a journey across this land, (and a short stop in the city of Vallaki to kill a mad fisherman and save a young girl) they met with the Abbot in the abbey above Krezk. They had journeyed there to seek the aid of Ezmerelda Davenir, who had been cruelly imprisoned, in a not at all locked room, by the abbot and his mongrelfolk. The abbot allowed the party to escort Ezmerelda off of the abbeys property with the understanding that she was not to return.
A short walk later, and Ezmerelda had informed the party as to why she had been 'captured' and what she was doing digging up old graves around the abbey. She suspected the abbot of using old party parts to create the mongrelfolk and the normal but quiet woman named Vasilka, who was actually a flesh golem with no tongue.
