Henebruck

The hardy (and typically hearty) people of Henebruck are renowned for their master woodworks and their hospitality. Though perceived by many other nations as "backwoodsy," the kingdom of Henebruck would describe itself in other terms, perhaps as "rustic" or "down-to-earth." It is true that Henebruck does not boast the many modern advancements that other nations do, but they do boast a certain charm and atmosphere that most other kingdoms do no possess. They also boast that they, as the kingdom nearest to it, have tamed the Alpenwode at long last, and that they are the only force capable of keeping the mysterious and dangerous forces that lurk within back. Privately, though, they know that no man can control the Alpenwode. At best, one can only temporarily curb it and ready oneself for its next move. Despite being commonly perceived by other nations as uncultivated and somewhat oafishly backwards, Henebruck boasts a rather modern style of governance, having an elective monarchy in which the noble class democratically votes for a new ruling monarch take the throne after the death or deposition of the previous monarch. This vote, similar to the tradition in Llychlyn, takes place in a location sanctified for peace, an open plain outside the capitol city of Windewald.
