Ku’uh crystals are various crystals formed by the deposition of the magics of Ethenrea. Formed from epic battles, the collision of planes, or by powerful Thaumaturgists, these crystals hold power that normal mortals seldom possess.

These crystals are used to make enchanted objects and magical items, most being everyday items like portable stove tops to elemental swords, as well as being essential for many magical alloys, such as Adamantite and Mythral.

All Ku’uh Crystals come with different qualities, which change the rarity of the items they can create.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Ku'uh crystals have perfect prismatic cleavage and are transparent to opaque that mildly glow with magical energy. The size of the crystal changes the power that the singular crystal can output, which is referred to as the crystal's quality. See below for the effects of each quality.

The last tier, dubbed “Black” Ku’uh Crystals are always slightly darker than their normal-hued counterparts, and are so powerful that anything that is created from one is considered an artifact.

  • Explosive
  • When exposed to a powerful hit or an open flame, the material explodes, dealing 1d6 force damage for each carat of material used in the material, causing the break item action on itself.

Ku'uh crystals have been used as long as man has been alive, and maybe even longer. True Dragons, Archfey, and Elementals have used these crystals for most of their existence as well.

Ku'uh crystals are commonly used to power certain amenities powered by magic and magic items.

Cultural Significance and Usage

Different races and regions have different uses. For example, in Indeljar Fire Ku'uh crystals are used to make a heater-like apparatus while in the Kalth the same type of crystal are used as a sign of wealth.

Industrial Use

Dvardai and Naaludai use many types of crystals in their machinations.

Refinement

Ku'uh crystals generally don't need to be refined, though some are polished and cut for jewelry and embelishments.

Hazards

Some variants of Ku'uh crystal possess dangerous side-effects, and there are possibilities of some exploding.

Environmental Impact

Environmentally, Ku'uh crystals don't cause any hazards and are a sign of magical balance in the areas they are found.

Reusability & Recycling

Due to their crystalling nature, Ku'uh crystals can't be re-used and their magical aspects are not infinite. They can be recharged with the right know-how, but once broken, they are useless.
