The Sunless Sea

the Sunless Sea is possibly the most dangerous sea in all of Pern. "the sea appears normal and calm but within minutes the sun is swallowed by shade and the sunless sea earns its name." a mysterious event known as the Sunless gives this sea its name.

Ecosystem

It's waves hide deadly beasts within from giant crab to devastating sea serpents who can control the waves around them and create deadly waves from calm waters.

Localized Phenomena

When a Sunless begins the sun being completely blocked out by mysterious storms and shade it allows the sunless plane to leek into the material letting those that can't survive the normal sun to walk freely.
