There are pretenders and there are contenders when it comes to the mantle of the Mandate. Many cults of that kind cropped up, laying claim to that right to rulership. Politicians appeal to that esprit de corps when it proves useful. The CSA, however, was no ghost. Not in its heyday. Many of us thought that it was the Mandate come to rise again, for better or worse.

Initialized as the Allied People's of Humanity, the Core System Alliance (CSA) emerged in the wake of the secession of the solar system's rimward settlements. After quelling that rebellion, the CSA eventually moved outward, ready to begin the long work of reclaiming what the Scream had stolen.
Although self-labeled as an alliance, the CSA more closely resembles a federation that is just shy of becoming a unitary state.
