The Angry Suns

Summary

It is told that once, the twin suns became angry. Whether it be due to humans, or a bickering between them, their rage made them hotter. They drifted close to Esor, lighting fires in its forests and causing extreme droughts.   The people of Esor were terrified, and many were dying because of the heat and lack of water. Eventually, the suns stopped arguing, or their vengeance was had, and they moved away again, leaving Esor devastated but able to be rebuilt.   Every religion has a story like this one. It is actually the event that caused the Torqish religion to be created.   To the Diyans, it was Diyos who moved the suns closer, as the people of Esor were forgetting who created them. They were becoming vicious and rude, and hurting each other for the sake of it. To teach them a lesson, Diyos burned their fields and evaporated their wells, leaving only the pure behind.   For the Band of the Five Divines, the world's balance had been tipped. There was too much Abundance, so Justice and Death had to step in to even it out. Only Life stopped them from killing everyone, and eventually the balance returned.

Historical Basis

This is rooted in a historical event. There was a sun flare long ago that nearly wiped out all of humanity. It burned everything, leaving thirst in its wake, and only a fraction of Esor's population survived.

Spread

This myth is spread across every religion, each telling its own version of the story.

Cultural Reception

To the Kan Shusans, the solar flare was creation itself, making it extremely important. To the other major religions, it is but an event in history.

In Literature

There are tales of this happening in all regions of the world, as well as poetry. It is also written about in the holy book of the Bandsmen.
